Mayfair NextStep2 elongated built-in potty seat
The child ring flips into the lid instead of sitting loose beside the toilet. Adults can use the same seat. Check your bowl shape; we bought the elongated version.
Install it according to Mayfair’s directions, check that the child ring does not shift, and use a stable footstool if a child’s feet dangle. Mayfair by Bemis · American Academy of Pediatrics

Silionce green folding travel potty seat
This folds into a travel bag and rests on an adult toilet. I would check its grip on each unfamiliar seat, then wipe it before packing it again.
Press on it to check for movement before a child sits, stay close, and use a stable footstool if their feet dangle. American Academy of Pediatrics

Chair format we bought but did not use
BabyBjörn Potty Chair, White/Gray
This low chair lets a child keep their feet on the floor. Its inner bowl lifts out for cleaning. It takes a permanent spot in the bathroom, unlike the other two.

Common questions
Did your kids use the BabyBjörn chair?
No. They covered it with stickers and left it at that. I never had to empty its bowl after a potty trip.
Does the built-in seat work on a round toilet?
Our exact Mayfair NextStep2 purchase is the elongated version. Check your bowl shape before ordering; do not buy an elongated seat for a round bowl.
Is the folding seat a portable toilet?
No. Our green Silionce folds into a bag and rests on an adult toilet. You still need a toilet, a stable fit and a way to clean the seat after use.
Should a child's feet dangle on the adult toilet?
AAP recommends a stool to support a child’s feet on a regular toilet. Pick one that sits securely and stay close while a young child uses it.
How I narrowed it down
I checked the bowl and hinge features against the makers’ instructions. I did not time cleaning or test the folding ring on every toilet. The Mayfair card uses a maker photo. The other images are generated and do not show our bathroom.
- Matched the three exact household purchases to current selected Amazon variants; all showed in-stock offers on October 31.
- Checked BabyBjörn's removable-bowl care, Mayfair's elongated 1888SLOW specifications, and the exact Silionce folding-seat listing.
- Checked AAP guidance on feet reaching the floor, foot support on an adult toilet and handwashing.
I'm Matt, a dad of two boys. If we've used something at home, the card says personally tested. The rest I read up on. I keep a weekly list of kids' product recalls. How I pick.
