Stonz Snow Mitts – Kid
Stonz is the one to try first: the cuffs cinch twice, and owners say toddlers can’t pull them off. The catch is bulk, which gets in the way of zippers and snack bags.
Check priceWorth knowing.
- Toddlers and preschoolers can get them on without a parent fighting each hand into place
- Stonz pairs a waterproof membrane with insulation, so wet or cold hands don’t end snow play early
- Long cuffs pull over the jacket sleeve, right where snow usually gets in

N'Ice Caps Kids Waterproof Snow Mittens
N’Ice Caps earns its spot as the pair that lives at school. Kids who stand still for long stretches in hard cold will stay warmer in Stonz.

SnowStoppers Kids Waterproof Long Cuff Winter Mittens
SnowStoppers has a long fleece cuff that goes under the coat sleeve. If snow keeps sneaking up your kid’s sleeves, that extra length is the reason to consider it.

What our boys wore
Our boys wore the N’Ice Caps Black/Navy sherpa-fleece two-pack in size 2–3 and Obermeyer Thumbs Up in Beary Blue XS. Both kept their hands warm, but sometimes we had trouble keeping them on. We also lost them around the house. Neither pair was great for climbing playground equipment at Seattle-area parks.
- Our N’Ice Caps fleece mittens are not waterproof. The waterproof N’Ice Caps model in the product cards is a different pair; our experience with the fleece does not describe that model.
- The exact Obermeyer Beary Blue XS is sold out at the sources checked. These are notes about the pair we used, not a recommendation to buy another color or size.
- Stonz and SnowStoppers remain researched picks in this guide. These notes about our boys describe warmth, keeping mittens on and climbing; they do not establish either family pair's waterproofing in wet snow.
How I narrowed it down
- Matched each listing to the exact model (N’Ice Caps sells several lookalikes) and its age band.
- Went looking for the complaints parents have after buying, mostly about fit, warmth, waterproofing and drying time.
- Stonz, N’Ice Caps and SnowStoppers: read each maker’s waterproof claims, membrane and shell material side by side.
I'm Matt, a dad of two boys. If we've used something at home, the card says personally tested. The rest I read up on. I keep a weekly list of kids' product recalls. How I pick.
