Our recommendations

Bentgo Kids Snack Container, Green/Navy
The Bentgo is the easy default for preschool snack duty. If you want closer to a liter of room for less money, get the Sistema Snack Attack Duo.

- The latch is the weak point. One snack-box owner’s broke on day one, and other Bentgo owners say latches give out after a year or two of daily use. Customer service gets praise for sending replacements quickly
- Crackers stay away from berries in the two compartments, which is most of the battle with preschool snacks
- At 12 ounces, it fits a small appetite, so less comes home half-eaten

LunchBots Small Protein Packer
LunchBots is the one that survives dry snacks and rough treatment. For separated preschool snacks, get the Bentgo. For a toddler, the Munchkin Snack+.

- Owners keep saying the lid is hard for toddlers and preschoolers to open alone, especially when it’s cold, and teachers often end up helping. Kids do manage the small sizes first
- Steel takes the drops that crack plastic boxes
- Four compartments in a 16-ounce box keep portions small and foods apart

Sistema 975 mL Snack Attack Duo TO GO
The cheapest way to get nearly a liter of snack space. The Bentgo suits smaller preschool portions better, and the LunchBots will outlast it.
Check priceWorth knowing.
- 975 mL across two compartments is the most room here for the money
- One side holds the main snack and the other a side, with no extra containers
- On r/kindergarten, parents said Sistema clip boxes are easy for kids to open and close. One noted the clips click audibly, so a kid knows it’s shut

Munchkin Snack+ Stainless Steel Snack Catcher, Light Blue
Choose Snack+ for dry snacks when the stainless bowl and closing flip-top lid are more useful than divided storage.
It is for ages 12 months and up. Cut food for the child, supervise eating, and have them sit rather than walk or run with food. Munchkin

- Owners report years of use from the stainless cup. One family still packs it for a six-year-old, with the soft catcher piece taken out
- The bowl is stainless steel and holds 9 ounces
- Two handles on the screw-on top, with soft flaps kids reach through for snacks

Common questions
Snack box or snack cup for a young kid?
A divided box keeps two snacks separate in a backpack; Bentgo and LunchBots fill that role here. For a toddler carrying dry snacks, the handled Munchkin Snack+ is a cup with soft flaps and a closing travel lid, not a divided box. Check the current age guidance and whether your child can manage the lid before buying.
How I narrowed it down
- Confirmed each container’s identity, intended use, age guidance and care instructions.
- Looked for what parents only find out after buying, like a lid a kid can’t open at school, a leak in the backpack, or a box that’s too small.
- Went through the lid mechanism, gasket details and any liquid-tight claim for each of the four.
