Quick answer

Pack the Dock & Bay Kid’s Towel for swim lessons and camp: at 51 by 28 inches it folds into a bag about the size of a water bottle. Wildkin’s 100% cotton feels warmer, which some kids want, but it stays damp for hours. Older kids get more years out of the large Dock & Bay, same fabric at 63 by 35 inches. Sand Cloud is really the adults’ towel and doubles as a blanket. Dock & Bay sells several sizes and prints, so match the listing to the one you mean to order.

Our recommendations

Dock & Bay Kid's quick-dry towel in a multicolour checkerboard print, spread flat on dry beach sand with one corner folded back

Our pick

Dock & Bay Kid's Towel

Of the four, this is the one that fits a crowded swim bag. It won’t please a kid who wants cotton, and it won’t wrap a tall one.

Wildkin kids beach towel printed with trains, planes and fire trucks on a blue ground, spread flat on a sunlit poolside deck

Cotton pick

Wildkin Kids Beach Towel

Wildkin gives up pack size and drying time for a softer, warmer towel. That’s a good trade on the sand and a poor one in a damp swim bag.

Sand Cloud Turkish beach towel in teal with a woven sea-turtle motif and tasselled ends, spread flat on damp beach sand near the tide line

Family-size pick

Sand Cloud Turkish Beach Towel

Sand Cloud belongs to the grown-ups. It doubles as a beach blanket, but at the highest price here it’s a lot to hand a child who leaves things at the splash pad.

Grows-with-them pick

Dock & Bay Quick Dry Beach Towel, Large

The large size suits a kid who’ll use one towel for years. A small child hauling their own bag will do better with the kid’s version.

Before you buy

  • Quick-dry fabric versus cotton: Quick-dry recycled fabric packs small, and sand falls off it. Thick cotton is warmer and soaks up more water, but afterward it sits damp in the bag for hours. Decide which of those matters more before looking at size or print.
  • Published size against who carries it: If a child can’t fold or carry the towel, it becomes the parent’s towel. If it’s too small to wrap a taller kid, it stays in the closet.
  • Current availability and rating: Three earlier picks were retailer house brands that Amazon never sold. The links looked fine and went nowhere.
  • Any product: check current recall information before buying — the kids' product recall tracker lists recent CPSC recalls of children's products.

How I narrowed it down

  • Opened each pick’s Amazon page on 2026-09-18 and confirmed a live price and rating.
  • Took size and fabric from each listing, from 51 by 28 inches on the kid’s Dock & Bay up to 64 by 38 on Sand Cloud.
  • Put the compact kid’s towel next to the bigger Wildkin and the two family-size towels, so the size tradeoff shows.
  • Dropped three earlier picks. They were retailer house brands that Amazon never sold.

I'm Matt, a dad of two boys. If we've used something at home, the card says personally tested. The rest I read up on. I keep a weekly list of kids' product recalls. How I pick.
